HOW YOU CAN HELP OUT

More than ninety per cent of Guineas’ female population are mutilated according to cultural and traditional beliefs, even though existing laws prohibit such procedures.

Even though it is not our custom to mutilate we have to accept and also have respect towards culture and tradition in foreign countries. The connection between the ritual of female mutilation, infertility, incontinence, and even death by exsanguination, not sure what word this is meant to be, are just some of the areas where proper education and explanation can act as a preventative.

Hence, here at Mama Afrika, we focus all of our energy and resources towards instigating campaigns for educational advertising to raise awareness concerning sexual relations, alphabetisation, and educational projects. In order to utilise our current funds efficiently our focus at present is centered in Kankan and Conakry. We fully appreciate all help towards supporting children who have already been the victims of mutilation, as well as educating parents at the risks and consequences of performing such barbaric surgery on their own children.

Membership

With membership you can support our organisation with an amount of your choice (minimum of 30 euros per annum is required). These funds are essential in our planning of long term goals, as well as enabling us to continue work on other projects, further enhancing the standard of our work. Collections

You don’t have a present in mind for your birthday or Christmas, but you wish to support a good cause? You can collect the money and donate it to Mama Afrika, enabling us to patronage African girls and women.

Godparentship

Helping a young girl or boy through their misery and hardships by being a Godparent helps finance their schooling, including all fees and equipment costs. Naturally the payments you make go directly towards the childs education, as fees for organisational matters, paperwork and travels are only financed through donations, membership payments and government support.
