What advantages does a membership with Mama Afrika have for you, as well as us?
Mama Afrika is a non-profit organisation which fights for the banishment of female genital mutilation in Africa.
With the number of members not only the budget for our projects and campaigns but also our political weight does increase. With your help and support we are able to continue our long-term projects, further enhancing the impact our work has.
Every new member is warmly welcome.
By donating you are not only helping the fight against crimes of the body and the very human rights of thousands of young girls, but a membership with Mama Afrika has fiscal benefits for you too: Being a non-profitable charity it means any donations you make can be deducted from your taxes.
Who can become a member?
Membership to Mama Afrika is open to everybody; from the individual and schools to groups and associations we welcome all members in the fight against female genital mutilation. So if you are interested in supporting the ongoing fight join us today.
What does a membership cost and which payment of contribution methods does Mama Afrika offer?
As a member you will have three payment options:
- an annual payment - the amount will be taken from your account every January, with a minimum donation of 30 Euros.
- a quarterly payment - every three months 9 Euros will be taken from your account.
- monthly payments - 3 Euros will be taken from your account on the 15th of every month.
With this commitment from you we are able to, in the most effective way possible, support our projects with long-term plans and goals.

What are my commitments as a Mama Afrika member?
Your commitment to Mama Afrika is by supporting the charity financially with one of the three options outlined above. Beyond that there are no further obligations for you as the sponsor. Furthermore you are entitled to cancel your membership at the end of any given calendar quarter, which requires the cancellation form to be submitted four weeks prior to the end of the quarter.
Where does the membership money go?
Rest assured that the full amount of the money you donate goes into our active projects, and neither our time nor your money is wasted on the production of glamorous campaign literature. As a member you can see for yourself our action and progress by viewing our transparency webpage, where you can follow all of our projects and see where exactly your money is going.
How do I cancel my membership?
Your membership with Mama Afrika can be cancelled at any time. Simply inform us in writing four weeks prior to the current quarter ending and it will be cancelled at no extra cost to you.
Can I get a receipt for my donation?
